The idea of making a mark and giving it a voice. A voice to identify who we are or who we were...whether making that mark yourself or through someone else. That is the idea behind the portrait.

The marks I create with pastel and an eraser are the result of a collaboration from the sitting to the studio. The scale of the portrait is meant to draw you in as a viewer...to ask that you get lost in the same details that I get lost in as an artist. To see the person in a new and intangible way.
